The First Treetop Walkway, Bavarian Forest National Park

The first and longest treetop walkway with a length of 1,300 meters welcomed its first visitors in September 2009. Wandering above the ground at a height ranging from 8 to 25 meters, exploring unspoiled and virgin nature. The Treetop Walkway in the National Park of Bavarian Forest enables you to enjoy an unforgettable view from an unusual perspective.

The access path to this largest park of its kind in the world is situated at the car park right next to forest enclosures. The boarding tower is equipped with a lift which provides comfortable and barrier-free access to seniors, disabled visitors on wheelchairs and also families with prams.

Walking on the footbridge made of wood, which is carefully embedded in the forest composed of both coniferous and deciduous trees, every visitor can experience a real enjoyment of nature. This simply magnificent moment is even more intense thanks to the use of special markers and panels, challenging your knowledge and sense of orientation, which are spread all along the walkway. Only here you will get familiar with the unforgettable local nature and its various life forms from a new angle.

The 1,300-meter-long foot bridge culminates with a 44-meter-high observation tower offering a simply fantastic and almost unlimited view: of the unpopulated area of the forest wilderness towards the top called Luzný; of the carefully cultivated cultural landscape of the Bavarian Forest with the Alps on the horizon.

The treetop walkway descends at Hans Eisenmann´s house where the tourist information centre is situated.

In the vicinity of “the Treetop Walkway“ the area of forest animal reserves can be found. In the diverse forest landscape of the National Park 16 large enclosures were established. These were connected to the compound of animal runs in the centre of the Luzný National Park. Currently, you can spot there 36 various species of birds and mammals.

A Treetop Walk on the Island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea

A new nature experience centre on the island of Rügen has been open to visitors since 2013. The third Treetop Walk to be opened, offering an interactive exhibition and dining experiences, quickly became a popular tourist attraction on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea.

Visitors of all ages can gain completely new, unusual perceptions and experiences on the trail: they can climb to the tops of old beech trees along a barrier-free path through the treetops, take a walk with a guide through the famed flint fields, or visit two very interesting exhibitions.

The total length of the trail is 1,250 m and its summit is a 40-m high tower built in the shape of an eagle's nest. From a height of 82 metres above sea level, it offers a wonderful view of the unique landscape of the island of Rügen. With a little luck, visitors walking along the trail might spot a sea eagle building its nests in the locality.

There are educational stations at regular intervals along the entire length of the trail, informing visitors about the local nature and life of animals, and passing on scientific knowledge about the fauna and flora of Rügen in a fun and original way. Activity stations provide fun along the Trail, where, for a change, you can try to keep your balance or try climbing at dizzy heights in a completely safe way. The entire trail is also barrier-free, and therefore suitable for all ages, wheelchair users and families with pushchairs.

At the end of an exciting trip, visitors are invited to sit down in the pleasant atmosphere of the Boomhus Restaurant, which serves regional dishes and seasonal cuisine.

The Black Forest Treetop Walk

The Black Forest Treetop Walkway enables you to experience the forest from an entirely new perspective. With a total length of 1.250 meters and a height of up to 20 meters above the forest ground, the path winds its way through the beech trees, firs and spruces of the impressive mixed mountain woodland up to the Sommerberg Mountain. The highlight of the treetop walkway, which was first opened in September 2014, is a 40-metres-high view tower with a view platform. Once you get there, you are rewarded with a unique view of the whole Black Forest Mountains (Schwarzwald). Thanks to the fact that the walkway is completely barrier-free, it is suitable for visitors of all ages, it is easily accessible for wheelchairs and young families with prams.

Natural material used for its construction makes you experience the surrounding nature in a completely different way. Discover little animals, birds, insects and numerous plants on various levels of the walkway. You have the possibility to observe them from an entirely new perspective. Pleasant routing of the walkway at its constant ascent make you feel like floating high above the forest ground.

Along the whole path, there are small balconies with didactic stops informing the visitors about the local nature and wildlife, so you may learn a lot of interesting facts too. But fun does not come short either. For a change, there are little side bends along the path where you may safely try climbing or balancing in the heights.Form April 2015 the visitors may enjoy a new attraction on the path: the 55-meter-long tunnel slide inside the tower promises an extraordinary experience when sliding down.

Never mind if there is delicate fresh green in spring, striking colours of the forest in autumn or sparkling fresh snow in winter, a walk along the Treetop Walkway is always an impressive experience in the nature.
You may easily get to the Black Forest Mountains Treetop Walkway using the summer mountain railway from Bad Wildbad. There is a special ticket available which includes the fare up and down the mountain plus the entrance to the Treetop Walkway.

The first Czech Treetop Walk - Lipno

The Lipno Treetop Walk, the first trail of its kind in the Czech Republic, has been open to its visitors since July 2012. The Trail is carefully integrated into the landscape, rising above the Lipno Dam on Kramolín Hill. It adds to the diverse range of sports, educational and entertainment activities available in the area.

The trail includes educational stations that provide visitors with interesting facts about the surrounding countryside and animal life. Children and adults alike will gain new knowledge at these stations and expand their awareness of nature, its protection and the importance of the forest.

For the young and those who remain young at heart and still yearn for adventure, the trail offers activity stations with rope features. While walking along ropes, visitors can safely test their courage and balance at a height of up to 24 metres above the ground.

The trail ends with a 40-metre high nine-sided observation tower. Visitors can reach it by chair lift, by bus (Stezkabus) from Lipno nad Vltavou, or along a hiking trail or bike path. The way down can be made more exciting by riding an off-road scooter, which can be rented by the trail and returned at Lipno after descending Kramolín Hill.

Just a short walk from the trail, you will also find the unique Forest Kingdom, a playground where children can look forward to several dozen attractions, a forest zoo, creative workshops and many other fun activities. For instance, they can look forward to meeting squirrels, tawny owls and a wildcat. A herd of goats, headed by Kája the billy goat, is also popular among children. More active children can try out a giant forest trampoline and jump up to the branches of mature trees, while the more inquisitive among them can have fun looking for a way out of Godoš the Robber's maze. But the Forest Kingdom is not just about fun. Here too, children will learn to recognize trees, and discover the properties of wood and the many possibilities of its use.

Treetop Walk Krkonoše

The second Czech treetop walk of Erlebnis Akademie AG is located in the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše) in Janské Lázně. As all treetop walks of eak, it is built to be easily accessible.
